Tihingan village is one of the villages in Klungkung Regency, Bali is renowned as the central producer of traditional gambelan musical instruments. On that account, the buyer or gambelan players from various regions in Bali, even outside the region, often come to this central producer of gambelan in Bali.

According to the customary chief of the village, this Tihingan village is inhabited by 174 households with a population of about 832 people. Of that number, about 90 percent were gambelan music instrument craftsmen. The rest had professions as farmers, traders, carpenters, civil servants and etc. Therefore, the majority of the people choose to work in their home village rather than outside the area.

The profession of making gambelan instruments is carried out through generations. In general, there are two groups of gambelan artisans, namely the group in charge of making and forming various kinds of gambelan instruments and those competent in calibrating the gambelan tones.

Tihingan village can be reached about 1.5 hours drive from Bali's famous tourist areas such as Kuta, Sanur, Legian, Seminyak, Nusa Dua. If you want to visit this village, rent a car with driver is much more comfort as the road to this village is less traffic sign. However, rent a car self-drive is much more adventurous for exploring Bali on your way.
